Privacy & Accessibility

History Escaped is designed to work without requiring a user account.

This page describes the site's current practices. If its analytics, advertising, or other data practices change, this page will be updated to describe the tools actually in use.

Accounts and personal profiles

History Escaped does not require an account to read case files, use the archive, browse guides, or play the current history games.

There is no public leaderboard and no cross-device player profile in the current site.

Game streaks and browser storage

The Daily Escape Challenge and Reconstruct the Escape can save simple game statistics such as streaks or completed rounds in your own browser using local storage.

That information stays with that browser unless the browser clears it.

It is not an account and it is not automatically synchronized across your devices.

If local storage is unavailable or blocked, the games are designed to remain playable without persistent stats.

Advertising and affiliate links

History Escaped does not currently include display advertising or affiliate links.

If advertising or affiliate programs are introduced later, the site should disclose them clearly and update its privacy information before relying on those tools.

Analytics

The site's current interactive features include semantic event hooks so future analytics can measure actions such as game starts, clue reveals, archive searches, and guide clicks.

The current game features do not themselves transmit those events to an analytics provider.

If analytics are enabled for the public site, this page must be updated to identify the actual analytics setup and any consent choices that apply.

Accessibility

History Escaped aims to make its articles, archive, guides, and interactive features usable across different devices and input methods.

Current accessibility work includes:

Accessibility is an ongoing part of the publication rather than a one-time checkbox. Future design or feature changes should be tested against the same principles.

A note on historical media

Some historical images survive only at modest resolution or in archival scans that are difficult to read.

History Escaped does not enlarge or fabricate historical detail merely to make those materials look cleaner. Contextual or later images are labeled when they do not depict the original escape event.

Changes to this page

This page should reflect the site's real behavior.

If History Escaped later adds analytics, advertising, affiliate links, accounts, newsletters, forms, or other tools that change how information is handled, the privacy section should be revised before those tools are treated as part of the normal public experience.
